We had only wanted to go with an ethical sanctuary and found this one. We were very happy with the appearance and care of the elephants. The tour started with a briefing on the workings of the sanctu…Full review by Trixie70

What a fantastic day with our guide Ding and the crew at the Elephant Village Sanctuary. We loved the up close (& ethical) experience with the elephants, the trip on a long boat out to a beautiful w…Full review by John R

We have a soft spot in our hearts for elephants. At Elephant Village Sanctuary we learned how they provide a sustainable future for elephants in Laos who have previously been doing heavy lifting wor…Full review by Journeyer
Am I correct in thinking this 'Sanctuary' still offers elephant rides? I want to check as I don't want to visit somewhere that still allows tourists to ride elephants (even bare-back) as it's not good for the elephants due to the process they have to go through to allow tourists to ride them. Looking for a true sanctuary, not a circus, and want to check my money goes to a good place. Thanks

There are plenty of reviews here on TripAdvisor, too, that suggest all is not what it seems at this place. Check out Elephant Nature Park in Chiang Mai instead.
Hello, Are your sanctuary and resort accessible for someone on crutches? Thank you

Hi, Im going to visit Luang Prabang next week, and was wondering should I book this tour online or can I take the tour on the spot at the office when i reach Luang Prabang?? Because I cant confirm the exact date I reach Luang Prabang, there might be one or two days discrepancy. Hope to get reply from fellow Trip Advisors! Thanks! :)

Hi, we didn't book at all. We went to the nearby waterfall by scooter and, literally, called in to this elephant camp. We negotiated a price and paid 350,000 Kip for 2 people for 45 minutes. This was an elephant each riding directly on their neck, 30 mins in the forest and 15 mins in the river. This was plenty of time. You will get soaked in the river and you need Deet as we got some serious bites (not from the elephants!). The guide took my phone and took hundreds of photos - my battery went flat so ask him to take less. He wanted a tip but deserved it as our photos are fab. Hope this helps.
