We didn’t really feel like what was on offer was worth the entrance fee for the time of year. Toy museum closed, gardens very sparse as winter, car park was a muddy mess. Artefacts in house exceptio…Full review by Sarah F

Beautiful historic house with so many interesting paintings and furniture, plus information about films made there. The gardens are lovely even in autumn but even better in Spring and Summer. The car…Full review by kayb573

We spent several hours here. We had a lovely lunch at the café and then visited the excellent toy museum. The museum has some great items and three dolls houses. Then we went around the lovely house …Full review by LittleJenny
What is the best way to get to Penshurst Place from Leigh Station? I would love to spend some time here when I go to London in the near future. Is there a bus that runs on a periodic schedule or would it be better to take a taxi (or even walk)?
A:

There is a huge car park which I did not use, having l left my car in the village to enjoy a walk before the visit. Some of it has gravel, some of it is grass. If you are worried, leave your car in the main road by the church (it is safe area at the centre of the village and there is little traffic).
I use a walking stick, sometimes two . Do all the steps around the place have hand rails? I can manage when they do. Is there an accessible route around?
A:
I only visited the gardens. I did not see a single hand rail. I do not know about the house itself.
My sister isn’t very mobile following a fall and is using a wheeled walker. She can manage a few stairs, if they aren’t too steep. I’m wondering how much of Penshurst Place would be accessible for her?
A:
The grounds are quite flat - eg the Knot Garden - and the Great Hall is accessible after a few steps up. Upstairs apartments would not be good for someone with mobility problems.
