We are thinking of going to Parco Nazionale del Gargano in February 2019. Plans would be to stay in Foggia. We will not have a car. Can you visit the park by bus or on a tour? Thanks much.

We tried to find a bus or a tour that would allow us to see the park, but were unable to find anything. So we did end up renting a car.
Where in Vieste did you stay and would you recommend using as a base for the whole visit or also staying in a more southerly part of the park? Any recommended car hire options in Vieste?

we rented a beautiful apartment in old town vieste on top of the hills right over water. we always do this in italy. vieste is a great base. easy to go to foreste umbra - a beautiful place for picnic and just a nap. we are not hikers. if you are the hiking type, it is probably better to stay some where else in the middle of the park (as it is huge) or next to it. we did not rent our car in vieste. we rented it at bari intl.
