The game drive was advertised for a minimum of two people, we arrived with three people and were advised that the minimum was now 4 people. I paid for 4 people and at the last minute after the game d…Full review by Ramsay M

We visited august 2023 but there was no option to choose this. This nature reserve has lots to do. We went to a separate enclosure for vultures and had an up close and personal talk about snakes wher…Full review by Companion45695832802

Not sure if it's just the day we went on, but we hardly saw any animals genuinely. There is very low activity there, and I don't understand why it's considered the top attraction in Gabz. The staff a…Full review by Jet64073937259
1.We would like to do a game drive. Do we need to book it beforehand? Or can we book it right away on site? 2.What time interval should we choose to increase our chances to spot animals?
How to go for a Game drive? Do i need to contact travel agent or from the gate can I get into a Game drive? What are the timing for game drive and price for it?

NB: BTW I think the 250-pula pp (adults) for the game drive and meal (what they call the 'bush braai') is more accurate because that's what we paid when we went last year. They usually want 6 adults, but you can offer to cover the cost of however many people you're short of. No need to engage a travel agent, just call them direct and discuss availability. Sadly, we didn't see much in the way of wildlife when we went but we still enjoyed it. The food's delicious.

I was staying at the Masa Square Hotel, it was 40 dollar taxi ride to and from and the Taxi man waited for use. We could have talked him down to 30 dollars.
My wife and I will be traveling to Gabarone in September with our son who will be 18 months old at the time. We have heard plenty of horror stories about Safari close calls and inept guides that will keep us from going into the brush with our son. Of course a trek to Africa would seem incomplete without some wildlife experience though, so can anyone advise is this reserve safe for children? I understand that they do not have elephants or lions (probably our two biggest concerns). What about hippos? Has anyone had any close calls or dangerous moments at the reserve?

Hi Ryan, I was in the Peace Corps just 20 minutes south of Mokolodi. It is one of the safest of the reserves because of the lack of predators. We would often mountain bike and hike there. Still, any wildlife can be dangerous. The safest plan with a little one is to go on one of the guided drives and to visit the education center, playground, and art exhibits, that are especially designed for kids (at the entrance). They also have a "flea market" twice a month, where people from the Mokolodi town sell artwork and have fun treats for kids. The guides at Mokolodi are well trained and professional and will make sure that you keep a safe distance and respect the wildlife, if you chose to venture further into the park with them. Enjoy Gabs!
