hello - were you able to see tree climbing lions? We visitted in 2000 and we count 24 lions on one tree. We want to make that trip again, but many are not recommending Lake Manyara.

Hi, My friends want to go there. I would like to know the condition for this month especially considering the rains in April. Is it safe to go there? Regards.

Don't worry too much about the weather as long as you have a good guide
We are starting a safari here in the middle of August. What are we likely to be able to see in the park? I had read that the lake shore road for access to see flamingos, hippos, etc. has been closed so you can't see much near the lake. Is this true?

We just came back and we felt that in general you are not close to the shore of the lake. There is with exception of the hippo pool always at least a distance of 200 meters and mostly trees and bushes in between you and the lake. Also we did not see a single flamingo or cat (ie no lions at all, not in the tree either). the flamingos had all migrated to lake Natron we were told. We saw many elephants, endless baboons and other monkeys, zebras, buffalos and other birds. We were in the Serengeti before Lake Manyara and I would not recommend that order. As lake Manyara is mostly a forest around the lake, often animals are amongst the trees and we felt the experience was less good than in the Serengeti or Ngorongoro Crater and the lake shore was quite a distance.
