This is a not to be missed State Park in Kauai. The views are breathtaking. Also, great food at the Kole Lodge Restaurant. The Portuguese bean soup was just like grandma used to make it.Full review by teresah146

Thank you MDTraveler I should have been more specific. I am asking about the non-designated sites for overnight camping within the Park, around the big grassy field. As a resident, I don't need a parking pass for the parks. Unless there is a new system where they sell camping passes at a kiosk in the park? My understanding, especially during this time, is that all permits must be purchased ahead of time, with a reservation.
Q:
Are the grills propane or charcoal at the campsites?

Q:
Camping permits? I would like to go there with one friend but there is actually just one permit remaining on the date we want to go. It would just be one tent. Would it be fine (we would like to buy two permits but cannot) or do we really need two permits?
A:
If you have one tent then you should only require 1 permit, since you will only be using one camping space with one tent. Enjoy your camping.
