Keith E. McEwen, MD, is a native of Chicago, Illinois. He received his bachelor's degree in both psychology with distinction and zoology from Iowa State University. He obtained his medical doctorate from Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. His general surgery residency was completed at Indiana University Medical School. Dr. McEwen is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is a member of the American Medical Association, Indiana State Medical Association, Indianapolis Medical Society and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Dr. McEwen has been performing outpatient LAP-BAND® System surgeries since June 2005. Dr. McEwen is credentialed with the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He began serving as an Allergan Proctor in 2007, educating other bariatric surgeons in procedures and techniques associated with lap band surgery and proper follow-up care of patients. Dr. McEwen decided in his adolescence that he would pursue medicine as his profession.
