Do you have to pay to walk the grounds and park? From what I've seen on Google Maps there are multiple possible points of entry that are not supervised, nor are there any fences in place. A bit odd.

Hi - there is one main entrance off the car park. You can walk around the buildings for free, but have to pay to enter the gardens and park areas. This is still a family home, with the family in residence at times. It’s well worth the visit. We loved the tour as well - the guide brought it all to life. Safe travels!
We are planning on visiting may bank holiday Monday 6th May. Are the shops and restaurant open as well?
