The trail winds mostly through forest. There aren't places along the trail with large drop offs or cliff edges. There are a few steep places going uphill but there are always trees on either side of the trail. Some years ago there were ropes in a couple of places where the trail was steep and eroded but the trail was rerouted and the ropes are no longer there. Once you reach the top the trail levels out and it is quite wide up there.
